The DPS Academy hiring process includes the following:

• Physical Fitness Testing (1.5-mile run, sit-ups, push-ups and sit and reach)

• Written Test (grammar, spelling, mathematics, writing, etc.)

• Oral Board (interview)

• Completion of a Polygraph

• Psychological and Medical Evaluations

• Extensive Background Investigation

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet all of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

• Graduation and certification from the Department of Public Safety Academy.

• Graduation and certification from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy.

• At least 22 years old
