This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Python Backend Developer in the United States .

In this role, you will design and develop scalable, high-performance backend systems and APIs that power critical applications consumed by tens of thousands to millions of users daily. You will actively code using Python-based frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask, and lead a team of engineers to build robust microservices for data-intensive, customer-facing products. This position offers the opportunity to innovate at the intersection of fintech and software engineering, ensuring reliability, performance, and availability for real-time financial data systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor engineers, and leverage cutting-edge tools and best practices to drive engineering excellence.

Accountabilities:

• Develop, maintain, and enhance Python-based APIs and microservices that power customer-facing applications.
• Design scalable and highly available backend systems for high-volume usage.
• Implement data caching strategies, asynchronous processes, and query/index optimization for performance.
• Collaborate with product owners, project managers, and cross-functional teams to define requirements, acceptance criteria, and delivery timelines.
• Integrate systems with third-party providers and services.
• Participate in code reviews, on-call rotations, and continuous improvement of engineering practices.
• Utilize AI-assisted tools like GitHub Copilot or Claude to accelerate development and maintain high-quality code.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience developing APIs and backend systems using Python frameworks such as FastAPI and Django.
• Proven experience building scalable systems serving hundreds of thousands of simultaneous users.
• Strong expertise in data caching strategies, asynchronous data processing, and query tuning.
• Experience with relational databases, ORMs, and SQL optimization.
• Proficiency with Docker, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of system monitoring, telemetry, and performance optimization.
• Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Preferred: experience with Redis, Postgres, AWS services (SQS, RDS, Dynamo), and familiarity with front-end technologies like React or Next.js.
