The Role
The Mockup Artist Apprentice is an entry-level position designed to build the skills and knowledge needed to produce high-quality retail packaging prototypes. Working under the guidance of the Mockup Artist Lead, this role supports day-to-day production tasks, assists with preparation and assembly, and develops a working knowledge of materials, tools, and prototyping techniques. Over time, the Apprentice will gain hands-on experience across a full range of mockup methods, building a foundation for advancement within the department.
Core Responsibilities
- Assist in the production of packaging prototypes, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Support the Mockup Artist Lead in project preparation, material handling, and assembly.
- Learn and apply basic skills in transfer application, box assembly, labeling, pouch construction, and other finishing techniques.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe Mockup Department workspace.
- Help inventory, organize, and prepare production materials for upcoming projects.
- Engage in cross-training opportunities to expand versatility and skill set.
- Follow established SOPs for production, quality control, and safety.
- Participate in skill-building exercises and training sessions assigned by the Mockup Artist Lead.
- Assist with high-priority or rush projects, including occasional overtime or weekend work when required.
Qualifications
- Interest in learning professional packaging prototype production techniques.
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools and materials.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed instructions.
- Organized, dependable, and able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Positive, collaborative attitude with a willingness to learn from experienced team members.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in a related field preferred.
- No prior mockup experience required; related hands-on production experience is a plus.
- Ability to lift and handle materials and equipment used in prototype production.
Salary Range: $18-20 USD Per Hour
