Description Utility Lines Construction Services Job Title: Directional Drill Operator Helper Job Description: An entry-level position in directional drill operating, that helps the directional drill operator on the job site with boring, locates, and clean up. Perform maintenance and repair on drilling equipment and other assigned equipment. Works around excessive noise form machines (backhoe, trencher, mini excavator, concrete saw, jackhammers) Have knowledge of utility depths and placement. Possess general knowledge of construction practices and be familiar with equipment, including routine service and maintenance. Ensure daily testing and inspection of assigned tools and equipment. Maintain company equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Will have contact with public and private property owners to professionally communicate work to be performed. Participates in company training of all regional safety guidelines and is required to perform all work by the regional safety policies. Operates various tools for the work (manual digging devices, wrenches, hammers, come-alongs, jack hammer and hand-line etc.). All other duties as required or requested by Supervisor. Reports all potential equipment and crew safety hazards to Foreperson Minimum Qualification: Must be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, i.e., rain, heat, sun, cold. Must be able to traverse various terrains. Must be able to communicate with others. Must be able to maintain attention during dangerous tasks. Must be able to follow directions, work safely & productively May be able to operate and service all required tools and equipment. Must be able to work long hours and overtime during holidays, emergencies, weekends, etc. Education And Experience: ~0 – 1 years of experience ~ Be able to provide proof of work experience, schooling, and any certifications that you have obtained during your career. Traveling Requirements: ~ Must be willing to travel out of state for emergency storm work. Driver License: ~ Valid Driver’s license is required, but must be willing to obtain valid CDL within 90 days of employment. If unable to obtain, please discuss this during the interview process. Safety: ~ Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must have sufficient eyesight to judge distance/coordination of equipment and tools, be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time, be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, be able to wear personal protective equipment as necessary, be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day, have the endurance necessary to traverse various terrain, be capable of performing job duties throughout a standard 8 or 10-hour day, be able to communicate with others, read, write, and comprehend written/verbal job instructions and information, and communicate and handle conflict professionally. Frequently (up to 66 %): Walking, Manual Dexterity, Seeing Distant, Climbing On/Off Truck, Gripping, Lifting Over 10 lbs. up to 50 lbs., Reaching, Depth Perception, Lifting, Carrying, and Pulling. Continuously (up to 100%): Standing, Speaking Clearly, Seeing, Hearing-Speech Range, Color Vision, Lifting Up to 10 lbs.
