Job Description

Joerika Stitt Esquire, LLC is seeking experienced Contract Attorneys (1099) to assist with family law, probate, and DCFS appeal matters on a flexible, project-based basis.

About the Role

The Contract Attorney will support the firm on an as-needed basis with responsibilities such as:

• Drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery responses
• Preparing for and attending court hearings (status, contested, or administrative)
• Reviewing probate filings, inventories, and accountings
• Conducting legal research and drafting memoranda
• Assisting with case preparation and strategy

Assignments are offered individually; you choose which projects to accept based on your schedule.

Qualifications

• Active license to practice law in Illinois (required)
• Prior experience in family law, probate, or administrative law (DCFS) (required)
• Strong research, drafting, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Professional communication and client-service mindset

Compensation

• $75–$90/hour , depending on experience and case type
• Most matters are billed as flat-fee projects with payments tied to case milestones
• Bonuses available for exceptional work and timely completion
• Prompt payment upon completion of each deliverable

Work Environment

• Fully remote – work from anywhere in Illinois
• Flexible scheduling – accept assignments that fit your workload
• Optional workspace available at our downtown Chicago or Olympia Fields offices for printing or meetings
• Independent contractor (1099) role
